DOES THAT ART HAVE PURPOSE
Recently,we have been talking about the difference between art and design .When I read more books or more sources,I confused more. Before I had been agreed with that art is concerned with pure aesthetics ,it is not utilitarian. But when I read the book "ART IS WORK",my idea has been changed .Just like the author said "art is work ","The overwhelming history of art ,in fact has been the history of people doing work for a specific purpose ,in other words ,commissioned works with specific intentions.(Milton Glaser)He also gave us some examples ,such as Michelangelo painted the "Last Judgement "not for himself ,not to express himself .His art work had its purpose.I totally agree with him.

London is one of the biggest city in the world. So many people eager to come here for different aims,I am one of them.
I have had an idea to learn something since I graduated from the uniersity .There are so many artists and a lot of famous art works keep in london, those are the reasons why I want to come here.
After I arrive here a long time I got the chance to study in the University of Arts London .I cherish the chance .Even though I know it is difficult for me,because I have graduated so long time .
In the process of BLOCK 1 ,I think my behavoir was not satisfifed by the teacher.Because I found I always fail to catch the importance contents what the teacher said.Maybe this is the reason I always accommodate the enviroment slowly. But I got so many knowledges from Block 1. 20 students come from different countries.Everybody has personal characters .If you study hard you will get more from them. And I also think I got more knowledges from the tutor. Before I knew London has sophistic technology and good educational system, but I don’t know the teacher is so responsible .I am so happy for my decision .Because if you get a responsible teacher you will get more from them.
In summery ,I think I get progress in Block .Even though it is not too much ,But it is essential ,that is the base for passing block 2 favorably.

Surrealism
In 20th-century,there is a movement named surrealism which is characterised by fantastic imageryand incongruous juxtaposition of subject matter. It expresses the workings of the subconscious.Actually ,Surrealism has the aim to not only liberate the mind by emphasizing critical and imaginative faculties of the "unconscious mind "but also attain a dream-like state different from "more over",and ultimately "truer" than everyday reality. But some surrealist often critiscised the word "surreal"because of its describing about unexpected juxtapositions or using of non-sequiturs in art or dialog.

LONDON PROJECT
Man is a kind of creature which have a lot of ideas and always chang them ,they find them first, then think about them and change them .I think this is not a bad thing .If you have ideas that means you are not too old ,you are still yong and have a nice future.
Recently I always consider my London Project .Before I had an idea ,I think is a good idea ,that is my impression about London ,I haven't change it since I first came to London. I felt so astonished about the people who sat in the train were so quite ,they read books ,spoke to each other with a little voice ,everybode looked so politely ,that was the thing I hadn't seen it in China.I thought it was a excellent custom .I also saw somebodey who tuned a song in the underground .Maybe they wanted to earn some money ,but I think some of them just like an artist to express themslves.I wanted to use video to record what I saw ,not only them but also have anything else abot London tube .But a few days ago when I practiced it , I changed it because I think what I want to expressed is difficult to fufill it ,I mean to reach an satisfied result , because of my infertile skill .That is a volonta thing ,I have been prepared it for a long time and have a systemic idea to do it ,but finial I made a decision to give up it .I think if I can't reach the result ,I should learn how to give up it ,that not means for ever ,just waiting for one day when I can ,I should do it ......

ART REVIEW: THE NEW DECOR AT THE HAYWARD GALLERY
ART REVIEW: THE NEW DECOR AT THE HAYWARD GALLERY
Comparing with those big galleries, The Hayward Gallery is not big enough .But it’s not the gallery’s size to decide whether the exhibition that the gallery has showed is successful or not.
This summer, at Hayward Gallery, there are 36 artists from 22 different countries bring their artworks to come here having an exhibition named THE NEW DECOR.
This is an excellent exhibition .By transforming or subverting the appearance and display of everyday furniture, these artworks demolish the accepted etiquette of interior design and the idealized image of social behavior that it conveys .There is exuberance, drama, illusion, wit and playfulness, but there is also abjection, pathos and provocation.
Stretched over the entire Hayward Gallery space, The New Decor could have been a revelatory show .It has been organized thematically. The space is used well. Even in the stairs corner, there is an excited moment as well.
The New Decor brings the viewer to the different room, different artist' artwork give us different visual feeling. By reconfiguring and reinventing the familiar, objects of domestic life such as chairs tables, lights, wallpapers and flooring, these artists look beyond design and function to create provocative sculptures and installations.
The furniture in Mona Hatoum's Interior Landscape is uncompromisingly in hospitable, and the only signs of habitation are a bent coat-hanger, a flimsy bag, a pillow with a scattering of hairs and appear plate stained with grease .Every object reveals itself to be a map. The artist personal stories are also embedded in the every object.
The artwork Elmgreen & Dragset (by Michael Elmgreen ,b 1961) shows the bed as well, but the viewer is attracted by the different scene .Metal bunked ,foam rubber sheeting ,pillows, wool rugs. Aren't they are the main material of the everyday’s objects that around us.
In short, The New Decor overall effect is interesting. These artworks individually and collectively prompt us to shift and rearrange our metal furniture and pose questions about the physical, intellectual and psychological relationships between objects. It is successful.

GOOD DESIGN IN THE DIGITAL AGEA
Few days ago we read and analysed the text,Good Design In The Digital Age .I think I have got some enlightenment from that .
Firstly ,the author of the text pointed out "Good Design " is an important issue in current discussion of websites and digital products in general and he also gave us an information that a significant number digital products fail to meet the expectations of customers or satisfy the needs of business .Then a question has been asked whether there is a practical framework or some way of evaluating good effective design .I think that is a good start .
Sectondly , The author gave us an example ’-49 – ’55 good design programme successful but only focused on narrow selection of public and corporate attention on the quality of products and neglected majority of products representing technologycal change. The history "good design "movement -and much of design thinking through the 20th century -gave us an external perspective on products . Focusing on form ,function ,material and the mannerof industrial products .There was little sense of the context in which products would be used by people in daily life .Comparing with the past ,the author thought the designers explore what is useful ,usable and desirable in products today and pointed out design is not a trivial aspect of ththe development of information technologies;it is the central discipline for humanizing all technologies, turning them to human purpose and enjoyment.
Thirdly, a personal interpretation of what the author saw emerging around us in digital products. The author told us trust a product has content and purpose: what is its use? Why useful for me? Designers need to build consumers’ trust: 1. Product must be usable 2. Understand needs + limitations of users in order to engage users .
At last ,the author give us a conclusion " Qualities of usefulness, usability ,and desirability play a central role in good design for websites and all digital productsand we also need to discover the proper balance of all three qualities for a particular product and the people who use the product.
